EVALUATION OF INTERNSHIP REPORTS (Fall Term 2021-2022) (INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT NO: 2021-5)

Students whose internship reports will be evaluated for the Fall term have been enrolled in the Turnitin classes. After preparing your internship report, upload the relevant sections of your report (report text: Introduction, Work Performed During the Internship, Observations and Discussion, and Conclusion) to Turnitin and obtain a Turnitin originality report.

Obtain your Turnitin originality report by Monday, 04/10/2021. Internship reports submitted with originality reports obtained before this date will not be evaluated. Submit your Turnitin originality report and internship report (converted to PDF format; Word files will not be accepted) by Wednesday, 06/10/2021, 17:00 to mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr.

Name your internship report file with your student number and internship type (“application” or “office”), e.g., 20200802001_office.pdf. If you are submitting multiple documents for the same internship type, name them 20200802001_office-I.pdf and 20200802001_office-II.pdf. Name your Turnitin originality report file as student number_internship type_turnitin.pdf, e.g., 20200802001_office_turnitin.pdf.

Do not forget to complete the Internship Workplace Evaluation Survey. There is no need to submit the survey via email. Internship reports of students who do not complete the survey will not be evaluated.

If the Internship Workplace Evaluation Form was delivered to you in a sealed envelope, submit it to the Department as soon as possible. If the form is at the workplace, ensure it is sent to the Department by mail promptly. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the form reaches the Department on time according to the evaluation calendar. Internship reports of students whose Evaluation Forms do not reach the Department on time will not be evaluated.

SPRING TERM 2020-2021 INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS (INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT NO: 2021-2)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, internship applications for the Spring 2020-2021 term can be submitted by following the steps below.

  1. Notify the department internship commission (via email to the commission chair at mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr) of the internship location you wish to apply for. Include information about the workplace, explain why you want to intern there, and describe what your internship will cover. You will be informed by email whether the internship location is approved.

  2. Once your internship location is approved, download the Mandatory Internship Schedule from our department website (click here for the internship page). Complete and sign the schedule. Clearly indicate the exact dates of your internship. Obtain the signature of the authorized person at your internship workplace. Send the signed Mandatory Internship Schedule as a PDF to mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr.

  3. After the signed schedule is received, a registration number for the Internship Workplace Evaluation Form will be sent to your email. Download the form from the internship page on our department website, enter your registration number, and complete the sections relevant to you. Submit the completed form as a PDF to mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr.

  4. One week before starting your internship, check via e-Government whether your insurance registration has been completed. If there is a problem, contact our Faculty Financial Affairs Unit (click here for contact information).

  5. Complete your internship within the specified dates.

EVALUATION OF INTERNSHIP REPORTS (2020-2021 FALL SEMESTER) (INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT NO: 2020-7)

Students whose internship reports will be evaluated for the Fall 2020-2021 semester have been registered in Turnitin classes. Details regarding the internship evaluation are provided below. After preparing your internship report, upload the relevant sections (Report text; Introduction, Tasks Performed During Internship, Observations and Discussion, and Conclusion) to Turnitin and obtain an originality report. Obtain your Turnitin originality report by Monday, 19/10/2020. Reports with originality reports obtained before this date will not be evaluated. Send your Turnitin originality report and internship report (converted to PDF, Word documents will not be accepted) to mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr by Wednesday, 21/10/2020, 17:00. Name your report with your student number and internship type (“application” or “office”) as “studentno_internshiptype.pdf”, e.g., 20200802001_office.pdf. If sending multiple documents for the same internship type, use: 20200802001_office-I.pdf and 20200802001_office-II.pdf. Name the Turnitin originality report as studentno_internshiptype_turnitin.pdf, e.g., 20200802001_office_turnitin.pdf. Do not forget to complete the Internship Evaluation Form. You do not need to send the survey results via email. Students who do not complete the survey will not have their reports evaluated. If the Workplace Evaluation Form was delivered to you in a sealed envelope, send it to the Department as soon as possible. If the form is at the workplace, ensure it reaches the Department by post promptly. It is the student's responsibility that the form reaches the Department within the evaluation schedule. Reports will not be evaluated if the form does not reach the Department on time.

REMOTE COMPLETION OF OFFICE INTERNSHIPS FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS (INTERNSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT NO: 2020-6)
Graduating students may complete an internship at a workplace during the summer term or, upon request, complete office internships via distance education (submission of assignments). Graduating students can follow these steps to complete their office internships via distance education:

  1. Notify the head of the internship commission by email (mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr) about your office internship request. Attach your transcript and the document showing the courses you are taking this semester. Make your request between 29 June – 05 July 2020. Requests before 29 June will not be considered.

  2. Approved requests will be assigned an assignment under the “External Application” course in AKUZEM. Assignment setup will be done on Monday, 06 July 2020. The final submission date is 09 August 2020.

  1. Notify the head of the internship commission via email (mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr) with information about the desired workplace, why you want to intern there, and what the internship will include.

  2. You will be notified by email if your internship is approved. Once approved, download the Compulsory Internship Form from the department website, complete it, and obtain the signature of the workplace supervisor. Your internship start date cannot be before Monday, 29 June 2020. Submit the signed form as a PDF to mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr.

  3. After the signed form is received, a registration number for the Workplace Evaluation Form will be sent to your email.

  4. Download the Workplace Evaluation Form, write the registration number, and complete the sections related to you.

  5. Send the completed Workplace Evaluation Form as a PDF to mvarol@akdeniz.edu.tr. Within two weeks, confirm with the Faculty Finance Office that your insurance registration has been completed.

  6. Complete your internship within the specified dates.

Update on Internship Regulations

The internship regulations were updated as of 01/09/2018. Key changes include:

  • Students with valid excuses: Students who want to intern due to valid reasons (graduation, single course) must submit a request with a current transcript to the Department Internship Commission. (Article 9)
    Internship during the semester: Students must not have class attendance obligations during the internship period. (Article 9)
    Summer school internship: Students can intern during days without class obligations; they must be present at the internship at least 3 weekdays. (Article 9)
    Prerequisite for office internship: Students must have passed the applied internship to be eligible. (Article 11)
    Submission of documents: Students must submit a current transcript and semester course list along with the Compulsory Internship Form. (Article 18)
    Second and subsequent report evaluations: Students whose internship report is unsuccessful must correct deficiencies and submit the new report along with the old one. (Article 32)
