Frequently Asked Questions

How is the internship success grade calculated, and when is it entered into the student information system?

The application (practical) internship is completed at the earliest during the vacation period following the 4th semester, while the office internship is completed during the vacation period following the 6th semester. By the time the student reaches the 8th semester, they must have completed the internship requirement (60 working days), and their internship reports must have been evaluated by the Department Internship Committee and deemed “Successful.” The student registers for the internship course (ÇEV400) in the 8th semester. The success grade for students enrolled in ÇEV400 is calculated as the weighted average of the application and office internship success grades according to the following formula. The result of the calculation is rounded to the nearest whole number. Decimal numbers with “5” in the tenths place and no digit after the “5” are rounded up to the next whole number. For example, if the calculated internship success grade is 91.5, it will be recorded as 92.

İG: Working Day
n: Number of internships completed

Example Calculations:

If a student completes a 30-working-day application internship and a 30-working-day office internship, and the internship success grades for the application and office internships are 90 and 96, respectively, the student’s success grade for ÇEV400 is entered into the system as 93 ((90∗30+96∗30)/(30+30))((90*30 + 96*30) / (30+30))((90∗30+96∗30)/(30+30)).

If a student completes two 15-working-day application internships and one 30-working-day office internship, with success grades of 86 for the 1st application internship, 90 for the 2nd application internship, and 96 for the office internship, the student’s success grade for ÇEV400 is entered into the system as 92 ((86∗15+90∗15+96∗30)/(15+15+30))((86*15 + 90*15 + 96*30) / (15+15+30))((86∗15+90∗15+96∗30)/(15+15+30)).

For students who have selected the ÇEV400 course but have incomplete internship days or unassessed internship reports, the letter grade is entered into the Student Information System as “FF.” The student’s internship success grade is sent to the Student Affairs office to be entered into the system retroactively once the internship obligation is completed and the internship reports have been evaluated and deemed successful. The Student Affairs office then replaces the “FF” grade for ÇEV400 with the new grade.

Will it be a problem if my internship extends into the first day of the fall semester?

Answer: You cannot do your internship from the start date of the semester (including the first day of classes). This applies to both fall and spring semesters. Since you are required to attend classes during the semester, the days you work as an intern during the semester cannot be recorded on the attendance form and, even if recorded, will not count toward the mandatory internship period. Those days will be considered as days you did not perform your internship.

My internship place stated that the number of days insured is less than what I actually completed. What should I do?

Answer: For all technical matters such as insurance registrations, timesheet forms, and similar issues, please consult the Faculty Financial Affairs Unit. Click here for contact information.

Who/where and how should I submit the timesheets?

Answer: Timesheets must be submitted to the Faculty Financial Affairs Office. The submission procedure is announced on the Faculty of Engineering website. Click here for the page.

Where can I obtain the timesheet form?

Answer: The timesheet form can be obtained from the Faculty of Engineering website. Click here for the page.

I am getting a warning on the Turnitin page about an email/name mismatch and cannot log into the system. What should I do?

Answer: Students are added to Turnitin classes with their first and last names in all capital letters. For example: MURAT VAROL. Sometimes Turnitin records your first name, last name, or both in lowercase letters (except for the first letter). For example: Murat VAROL or Murat Varol. If you are having trouble logging in, try entering your last name in all capital letters or with only the first letter capitalized. If this does not work, contact the Department Internship Commission.

Do we need to apply for enrollment in the Turnitin class?
