STUDENT MOBILITY
The Erasmus Program implements student exchange in two ways:
1. Student Mobility for Studies
With Erasmus Student Study Mobility, students enrolled in a higher education institution with an Erasmus University Charter (EUC) in Turkey have the opportunity to become an exchange student at another European country's higher education institution with an EUC for 1 or 2 semesters (between 3-12 months) within an academic year and receive financial support for the period they stay abroad.
2. Traineeship Mobility (Student Placement)
"Traineeship" is a process where a beneficiary receives vocational training and/or work experience within a partnering enterprise or organization in another participating country. Traineeship can take place for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months. For associate degree programs, this period can be a minimum of 2 weeks.
STAFF MOBILITY
Erasmus Staff Mobility activity is divided into 2 sub-activities:
1.Teaching Mobility
It is an alternative activity that allows academic staff from higher education institutions with an Erasmus University Charter to give lectures at a different European higher education institution with an EUC. The Erasmus Program provides an opportunity for academic staff working at institutions with EUC to teach at another European higher education institution with EUC for a maximum of 6 weeks, provided that they teach at least 5 hours per academic year.
2.Training Mobility
The Erasmus Program provides an opportunity for academic staff, administrative staff, and employees working in businesses to receive/give training at institutions with EUC or in businesses.
WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM?
The aim of the program is to improve the quality of higher education in Europe and strengthen the European dimension. The Erasmus program aims to promote inter-university cooperation between countries, enable students and educators to exchange in Europe, and contribute to the academic recognition and transparency of studies and degrees in participating countries. Graduates from higher education institutions in Europe, where higher education is provided with higher quality, will become more competent individuals who can meet the expectations of the business world more. The program contributes to breaking down prejudices between European peoples in higher education circles with the mobility opportunities it offers. Through the Erasmus program, more than 1.5 million higher education students have spent a period of their education in another European country, enabling them to get to know the people and culture of that country.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAM AND HOW?
The Erasmus program is open to use for higher education institutions in Turkey that are part of the Lifelong Learning Program, including 27 European Union member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and candidate countries for the European Union. In all activities to be carried out within the Erasmus program, it is a requirement that at least one of the parties be an institution from a European Union member state. Universities, institutes, academies, and similar institutions accepted as higher education institutions by the relevant official institutions of countries can apply to the Executive Agency of the Education and Culture General Directorate of the European Commission (The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency - EACEA) and obtain the Erasmus University Charter - EUC, if they are entitled to receive, can benefit from the Erasmus program for their students and staff. Institutions wishing to carry out student traineeship mobility must obtain the Extended EUC. As of the 2010-2011 academic year, more than 2,000 higher education institutions in all of Europe can participate in the Erasmus program. Institutions can apply starting from the date of announcement by the Commission each year, in line with the final application deadline.
