Fields of Employment for Graduates

Environmental Engineers play a key role in researching, developing, and determining necessary measures for technical solutions related to water, soil, or air pollution. They apply fundamental engineering, biology, chemistry, and mathematics principles in solving environmental problems. They are involved in waste disposal, recycling, and improving environmental and public health concerning water and air pollution. Designing, constructing, and operating domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants, water supply systems, and sewage facilities are among the primary concerns of Environmental Engineers. They also work on drinking water treatment, wastewater recycling and reuse, environmental impact assessment, process control, and investigation of clean technologies. Additionally, they participate in scientific data analysis and performance monitoring in proposed environmental projects.

As the negative impacts of increasing human activities on the environment become more apparent, preventing these effects and leaving a sustainable environment for future generations has become one of our most important responsibilities. In this regard, students who choose our department graduate as individuals who are well-versed in sustainable living, capable of producing engineering solutions, and possess versatile inquiry and thinking abilities.

Our graduates establish their own consultancy and/or engineering firms. They serve as Environmental Engineers in public institutions and private companies. Our graduates:

  • Design, construct, and operate landfills.
  • Provide input for the construction of hydroelectric power plants.
  • Design and operate wastewater treatment and drinking water treatment plants.
  • Design equipment for air pollution control.
  • Perform air quality modeling.
  • Establish environmental management systems.
  • Work in water resources management.
  • Provide drinking water supply.
  • Establish systems for waste recycling.
  • Prepare Environmental Impact Assessment (ÇED) reports.
  • Develop clean technologies.
  • Create added value in ministries, municipalities, and universities.
  •

The main institutions and organizations where our graduates can work are:

  • Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey
